Bradley Cooper stars in the new movie honoring the most lethal sniper in American history, and if the movie is as good as the trailer it’s going to be intense.
Directed by Clint Eastwood, “American Sniper” is about the badass Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who served four tours in Iraq and had an amazing 160 confirmed kills, according to Fox News.
Cooper plays the role of Kyle, and had to put on 40 pounds of bulk to properly portray him. The movie isn’t all special effects either, as Cooper actually went and trained with the Navy SEALs to be able to play the role.
In their only face-to-face meeting, Cooper made a promise to Kyle before his death that he would stay true to his story despite it being brought to Hollywood.
Cooper, who’s most well-known for his role in “The Hangover” series, later told USAToday that “There was really no choice” but to “do right by [Kyle] and his family” when discussing the direction the movie took.
“You’re sitting across the dining-room table talking to this person’s father and mother. And his children and wife are there. And he’s passed away,” Cooper said. “They are putting all of their stories in your hands and the responsibly of that, it’s actually unique.”
It wasn’t long after Cooper and Kyle spoke that Kyle was fatally wounded at a Texas gun range while trying to assist fellow soldiers with PTSD. Unfortunately one of the men, a former Marine, was the one who pulled the trigger and killed him.
