Louisville Officer Critical

Louisville, KY – A Louisville Metro Police Police Officer remains in critical condition on Wednesday morning after a fiery collision during a vehicle pursuit.

According to WDRB, the officer was pursuing a suspect about 8 PM on Tuesday. His cruiser was hit near 26th and Duncan Streets less than half a mile from where the pursuit began.

After the crash, the officer’s cruiser was heavily damaged and caught fire. He had to be extricated from his vehicle and was then transported to University Hospital.

It is not known how many other people were injured but at least one other person was transported to a local hospital by ambulance from the scene. It is also not known why the suspect was being pursued or if he was caught. No further details have been released yet.

The officer has not been identified. Hundreds of Officers have remained at the hospital throughout the night keeping vigil.

The Louisville Metro Police Department has asked that the public keep the officer and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
