A police officer from Lakeland, Florida “was very shocked” after someone decided to pay for for his breakfast one morning while he was eating at a local Denny’s. He was even more surprised when he learned the person was a 9-year-old boy named Noah.

Noah and his mother, Amanda Cantin, were starting their day together for “Bring Your Child to Work Day” with some delicious breakfast at Denny’s. While they were there, they spotted the cop at another table. Officer Eddie Benitez was sitting alone, chowing down on a Grand Slam breakfast and washing down the pancakes with a cup of coffee.

The excited kid had this urge to say “hi” to the policeman and asked his mom if he could go talk with him. Of course Amanda said “yes,” because she knew it would be a very important moment for her son.

Though Noah knew he wanted to speak with the cop, he became nervous because he didn’t know exactly what to say. So the little guy got permission from his mom to cover the cop’s bill of $7.63.

Once he picked up the receipt, he wanted to write a note to Benitez. With the help of his mom, the simple message read, “I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service.”

Noah then walked over to his new friend and handed him the check. Benitez was so moved by the kind gesture that he couldn’t leave without posing for a photo with the kid.

Once word got back to the Lakeland Police Department about the lovely morning Benitez had, they decided to post the picture to their Facebook page. A photo of the check was also shared with their followers.

“Well Noah you touched all of our hearts today,” the department wrote. “Your support means so much to all of the men and women who put on the uniform everyday.”

What made this story even sweeter is that Noah actually paid for the officer’s food. “You see he had his own money that he recently received for his birthday,” the police department wrote.

Instead of spending his birthday money on himself, he decided to spend it on one of the people he admires the most. Noah hopes to become a cop when he grows up, and it’s one of the main reasons why he was determined to bring some joy to Benitez’s workday.

“I’m going to make the world a better place and capture the bad guys,” he said in an interview with Inside Edition. Amanda said her son has been fixated on this aspiration for the past four years.

She would definitely be “one proud mom” if Noah ever pursued a career as a policeman. It seems like everyone else on Facebook is in support of the young boy’s dream job as well.

“Well, I hope Noah gets to be a police officer when he’s old enough – because with a heart like his he will make a great officer,” one person wrote on the Facebook post. “Happy 9th Birthday Noah!”

This little man’s selfless act has already proven that one day he will be an upstanding police officer. Not only will he be a great protector of his community, but he will probably bring a lot of happiness to the people he serves every single day.

After being too nervous to approach him, he asked his mom if he could write him a note instead. That’s when he handed the officer the note, leaving him in shock…
